COVID-19 - FAQ for students
In order to ensure that our student body is fully informed, Sorbonne University has created a dedicated space for the questions that our students may be asking due to the coronavirus COVID-19 epidemic.

1. Emergency aid, health and solidarity
Faced with the Covid-19 epidemic Sorbonne University and Le Crous are setting up exceptional aid systems to meet the most urgent needs, in order to support students whose financial situation is fragile. The aid application procedure is quick and simple, see the terms and conditions on the "Grants and scholarships" page (in French).
If you have financial difficulties to buy a computer and/or subscribe to a broadband internet service, Sorbonne University can give you assistance. The aid application procedure is quick and simple, see the terms and conditions on the "Grants and scholarships" page (in French).
Students can benefit from a teleconsultation from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with different clinicians from the Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion Service (SUMPPS): doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist or midwife (gynecology and contraception).
The applications by students with disabilities and recipients of a scholarship can also be processed during this period.
SUMPPS doctors also provide home follow-up for students who have had CoViD-19 in conjunction with the AP-HP's remote monitoring platform called COVIDOM.
To request a consultation, go to the SUMPPS website and fill out the teleconsultation request form. Your message will be quickly processed and a clinician will contact you. Please note: for the moment, the telephone line 01 40 51 10 00 is not available.
The consultations are 100% reimbursed.

Crous adapts its activities to the health crisis.
Find all the information on scholarships, housing, social assistance, student social file (DSE) and other services on the Crous website.
The residences remain open for students who wish to stay, however all of the conviviality and work spaces are closed. The activities are also suspended.
University restaurants are closed.

Scholarships will be paid normally, according to the usual schedule. Scholarship applications for the year 2020-2021 are processed according to the regularly planned procedure.

2. Educational continuity: academic courses and research
The methods of knowledge verification (testing during the term, final exams ...) have been modified due to the current health situation: see the page on this topic (in French).
Details on each course will be communicated to students directly by their teachers or via the digital working space (ENT) at least 15 days before the start of the tests, except for continuous assessment. For any questions, students can also contact their educational manager, UFR or academic department by email.
No further research activity is organized in the university premises apart from the essential activities which fall under activity continuity plans, activities engaged in research on the epidemic, and exceptional activities including those for which the interruption would lead to the loss of essential, sensitive or particularly complex or cumbersome scientific studies to reorganize.
All the electronic resources of the Sorbonne University Library (BSU) are accessible remotely to Sorbonne University members (staff and students) through their institutional accounts.
Numerous ebooks and online journals are available via the BSU, in all areas of knowledge taught at Sorbonne University. To find them, go to the AZ Publication Finder list.
The BSU cannot answer any questions on user names, accounts or directory problems because they do not have access to students’ personal data. For questions about electronic documentation, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
In addition to our electronic resources, a large number of publishers are taking initiatives to make part or all of their content available to universities for free for a month. The Couperin consortium is progressively listing them on this page.
Finally, if among all the resources currently available at the BSU, in open access or via the electronic resources of other libraries to which students have access (BIS, CNRS libraries, INSERM, Bulac, etc.), a student is missing an ebook, a new service was put in place during the confinement period: an on-demand ebook purchase window. Students can fill out this form and requests will be processed as soon as possible, subject to availability of the ebook.

3. Professional situations: internships and student jobs
- Internships (all levels of study combined, excluding hospital internships), for which remote working is possible, can take place according to remote methods, at the decision of the supervising professor and the host organization.
- On the other hand, those internships and jobs that can only take place in person are suspended, postponed or canceled. In this case, the adapted methods of knowledge verification provide for new educational methods.
- For internships taking place abroad, their continuation depends on the decisions of the host country and the employer.
For any questions concerning a current or future internship, students must contact their supervising professor, academic department or UFR.
If a student experiences financial and/or material difficulties due to the end of their internship, the student can request emergency assistance. See the question "I am experiencing financial or material difficulties, to whom and how to apply for emergency assistance?"
As a student job or an intermittent student job holder, the student is under contract to the university and therefore placed on a special leave of absence (ASA).
If the manager considers that the student’s activity can be carried out remotely, they are in a remote working situation and will be paid for the hours worked.
If the student’s activity cannot be carried out remotely, when possible, working hours will be postponed until the university reopens. In all cases, and even if the postponement of hours is not possible, the student will be paid for the hours of work initially scheduled during the confinement period.

4. International: mobility and international students
Students that are on a mobility in a European university, are strongly advised to contact the consular services as soon as possible. Assistance can be provided by embassies, consulates and honorary consulates of the country concerned, in particular by registering on the "Ariane" application.

Given the health context, all residence permits, receipts and long-stay visas which expired between March 16 and May 15, 2020, which had already been extended by 3 months, are extended by an additional 3 months, by the ordinance n ° 2020-460 of 22 April 2020, i.e. a total extension of 6 months.

5. Prospective students: back to school 2020-2021
Yes, all the application files submitted are examined by the teaching teams. This concerns all applications, including those made on ministerial portals (Parcoursup, Etudes en France).
Yes, the university continues to process new applications: the online application tools remain operational and the files examined by the teaching teams.
The application submission schedules are however subject to change; we recommend that you consult the Sorbonne University website to find out the new dates specific to each course.
If these registrations had to be suspended, all pending files, subject to compliance with the requested procedure, will be processed for the 2019-2020 academic year.
No. By order No. 2020-306 of March 25, 2020, the response times are extended. There are 2 possibilities:
- Either the student has received an acknowledgment of receipt before March 12 and the period of two months to reply to the student was in progress: Whatever part of the two months of the waiting period had not been completed (calculated from the date of the acknowledgement of receipt and March 12), will resume on July 10, the current date of the end of the state of health emergency.
- Or the student has received an acknowledgment of receipt after March 12: the two-month period to respond to the student will begin 1 month after the end of the state of health emergency which is currently for July 10. Therefore, the two-month period will begin on August 10 and Sorbonne University therefore has until October 10 to respond.
