Programs in French

Level of French

  • Bachelor's degrees: A minimum level of B2 in French is required to apply for a bachelor's degree at the faculty of Science and Engineering at Sorbonne University.
  • Master's degrees: A minimum B2 level in French is required to apply for some of the master's degrees at the faculty of Science and Engineering at Sorbonne University. Certain master's programs are open to international students who do not have a B2 level in French. You will find a list of these programs on the dedicated page (link to the Programs in English page).

When applying for a bachelor's or master's degree in French, you must be able to present a diploma or certificate recognized by the French Ministry of Higher Education certifying your level (such as TEF, TCF, or DELF).

Bachelor's degrees

L1: a multidisciplinary integration year

Students at the faculty of Science and Engineering at Sorbonne University can build a personalized program thanks to progressive guidance throughout the three years of their bachelor's degree. The first year of the bachelor's degree is therefore part of an integration cycle structured around portals.

To complete a general bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, students must pass through one of the seven portals of the integration cycle (L1), which combine mathematics courses and the study of three disciplines in the first semester, then two main disciplines in the second, with a view to gradually orienting themselves towards one of the faculty's eight bachelor's degree specializations.

Master's

The master's degree is open to students with a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

It consists of four semesters, during which students prepare for the professional world, choose their specialization, and gain practical experience.

The aim of the Master's program is to provide students with a high-level multidisciplinary scientific culture combined with cross-disciplinary skills, giving them a broader perspective on social issues, an understanding of the benefits of teamwork, and the ability to work independently, manage a project, develop their creativity, and acquire a high level of specialization.
