"Development of new methods for the synthesis of transition metal pyridylidenes"
"Développement de nouvelles méthodes de synthèse de pyridylidènes de métaux de transition"

These research investigations describe the development of several methods for the synthesis of organometallic compounds containing bidentate pyridylidene ligands. Cyclometalation involving C-H bond activation of pyridinium salts makes it possible to generate a pyridylidene function coordinated to the metal such as ruthenium(II), osmium(II), rhodium(III), iridium(III) and platinum(II). In particular, an unprecedented method of transferring these pyridylidenes through mercury(II) compounds has been developed. The compounds obtained were fully identified by NMR spectroscopy, infrared, mass and in several cases by X-ray diffraction on single crystals.Some of the complexes obtained exhibit unusual luminescence phenomena or in-vitro antitumoral activty in the case of platinum(II) complexes. These results will be discussed during the presentation.
