Master courses in Electronics, Electrical Energy and Automation - Communication Systems track
High frequency electronics and telecommunications are present in many applications in our daily lives. The "Communicating Systems" course prepares students to work mainly in teams in charge of technical projects in the field of embedded electronic and radio frequency systems. It can also lead them to research or development activities in public or industrial laboratories, after the preparation of a PhD. The scientific skills targeted are multidisciplinary and include advanced knowledge in analogue and digital electronics, electromagnetism, modelling and simulation of communications.
1st year Master courses (M1) taught in English
These courses are accessible to 4th year undergraduate exchange students provided they have the necessary prerequisites.
Semester 1
1st year Master - 1st Semester - 3 ECTS - English Level: B2 (no test required)
Brief Description
You will learn how to formulate an electromagnetic problem in the time and frequency domain, and how to choose in which domain it is preferable to formulate a given problem. Moreover, you will learn how to write a Matlab code for the solution of an electromagnetic problem using FDTD and FEM in one or two dimensions.
Prerequisites
Maxwell and Helmholtz equations in 3-D in the time and frequency domain, isotropic and anisotropic media, dispersive media, image theorem, plane waves, electric and magnetic conductors, transmission line equations. Good knowledge of Matlab.
