M2 - International center for fundamental physics (ICFP) course

This course offers students a comprehensive and diversified training in the various fields of fundamental physics, both theoretical and experimental. It covers a wide spectrum of fields, including high-energy physics, statistical physics, quantum optics, cold atoms, condensed matter physics, and the physics of liquids and soft matter. The program is organized together with École Normale Supérieure, École Polytechnique and the Universities of Paris 7 and Paris 11.

This pathway offers two non-specialized subjects to provide advanced training in fundamental physics, enabling students to start a thesis in most areas of physics, whether theoretical or experimental. The course also offers two more specialized subjects in condensed matter physics, liquid physics and soft matter physics that provide comprehensive, advanced theoretical training before embarking on thesis work.

The proposed subjects are :

  • Condensed matter physics
  • Soft matter and biological physicis
  • Quantum physics
  • Theoretical physics

The majority of students on this pathway go on to academic careers (Universities, CNRS, CEA, etc.) after their thesis, but also, to a lesser extent, to industry.
