Biology and Bioresources Marines track – BBMA

Are you passionate about marine organisms? Would you like to learn how to better understand their characteristics and how to study them in order to answer various biological questions (cellular, molecular, developmental and evolutionary biology, physiology, biotechnology, etc.)? This is what we can offer you in the BBMA program, which will provide you with opportunities in both fundamental and applied research. The program takes place on the Pierre and Marie Curie campus and for the most part at Sorbonne University's three marine stations: Roscoff, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Banyuls-sur-Mer.

In the marine environment, if you are more interested in oceanography, ecology and environmental sciences, you can follow the "Functioning of Marine Ecosystems and Global Change" and "Biodiversity and Conservation of Marine Ecosystems" pathways of the Marine Sciences master's degree: http://sciencesdelamer.sorbonne-universite.fr/.

Courses titled  in English can be taught in English

Biology and Bioresources Marines track – BBMA

Objectives

The Marine Biology and Bioresources pathway trains students in the integrated biology of marine organisms, from molecular aspects to physiology. It enables students to:

  • Find out more about the research being conducted at our marine stations in Roscoff (Brittany), Villefranche-sur-Mer (Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur) and Banyuls-sur-Mer (Occitanie), and our partner university in Brittany (Université Bretagne Sud).
  • Understand the concepts and mechanisms that govern the functioning of marine organisms at different scales (from organism to cell or molecule).
  • Understand integrative biology approaches to the fundamental aspects of the functional biology of organisms (omics, physiological, developmental, evolutionary, cellular and molecular approaches).
  • Master the main methods for studying and/or analyzing marine organisms and their specific characteristics.
  • Gain a range of skills that can be applied in other areas of biotechnology.

Applications

Applications for M2 are open from March 28 to June 13 on the e-candidat platform.
