The objective is to enable students to acquire solid scientific knowledge for a real understanding of life. The aim is to provide knowledge of the biology and general organisation of the major lineages of the tree of life as well as the functioning of organisms, from the molecular scale to integrated biological systems. The teaching is designed to combine fundamental concepts and the learning of methodological tools.

2nd year Bachelor - 1st Semester - 6 ECTS - English Level: B1 (no test required)


Brief Description

Insects constitute the largest part of animal biodiversity and have many interactions with humans.  As a result, insects are often the subject of communication campaigns in the media or popular magazines. The aim of this course is to produce, using the scientific litterature about a thematics related to the insects, a poster and a summary in English.

Basic knowledge of animal biology and physiology.

3rd year undergraduate courses (L3) taught in English

Semester 2

3rd year Bachelor - 2nd Semester - 3 ECTS - English Level: B1 (no test required)


Brief Description

The objective of the course is to address two thematics in neuroscience, namely neurodevelopment and neurodegenerative diseases, with the communication methods of scientists. To this end, scientific documents in English have been reworked by teachers for the needs of this course. At the end of this course, students will have acquired a solid knowledge of developmental disorders of the nervous system and neurodegenerative diseases. Students will be exposed to and prepared for the use of scientific English both for comprehension and for written and oral communication. They will therefore be able to discuss this theme and in particular to argue about the interest and limitations of scientific advances in this field.


Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of neurophysiology.
