BCI
To encourage relations between peoples and cultures from different countries, Quebec universities, under the Bureau de Coopération Interuniversitaire (BCI, formerly CREPUQ) program, have set up student exchange programs with universities outside Canada.
Student exchange agreements have been signed with over 200 French institutions.
Application deadline
for a departure in 2025-2026November 25, 2024 at 12 p.m.
These programs enable students registered at one university (the home institution) to pursue part of their studies at another university (the host institution) for one semester, but no longer than one academic year.
Students are selected by the Quebec institution after a pre-selection by their home university, based on their motivation, an analysis of their academic curriculum and the requirements of the host institution.
Informations
- No spot at Bishop's or Concordia
- As of 2023-2024, the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is no longer part of the BCI.
To apply, you must :
- Be enrolled at Sorbonne University during the year preceding your departure abroad.
- Have completed the 1st year of your bachelor's degree
- No tuition fees at the host university.
- Sorbonne Université diploma awarded after validation of the study period. Only the courses or work mentioned in the teaching contract will be taken into account for the validation of the diploma, on presentation of the certificates of achievement issued by the host university.
- Students participating in the program are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, health insurance and third-party liability/repatriation costs.
- Students with scholarships continue to benefit from the national higher education grant based on social criteria.
Choose your host university on the basis of the courses it offers: you should choose the university that will enable you to take courses as close as possible to those you should take at Sorbonne Université.
You can choose up to 3 universities and rank them in order of preference: http://echanges-etudiants.bci-qc.ca/
choice 1 = gold - choice 2 = silver - choice 3 = bronze
However, we strongly advise you to choose only 2, as in practice, your application never reaches the 3rd university in time.
Please note: some universities will not consider your application if they are ranked #2 or #3. This is mentioned as follows on the BCI website, for example for Université Laval.
“IMPORTANT - Please note that Université Laval will only accept applications from students who have indicated Université Laval as their first choice of institution.”
Apply via the link to the International Mobility Office of the Faculty of Science and Engineering: MoveON
01 - Choose 3 universities: choice 1, choice 2, choice 3 (you can choose universities located in different countries and continents)
02 - Validate your MoveON before the deadline
The Sorbonne Université selection committee will contact you in December to let you know whether your application has been accepted.
If you have been selected, the International Mobility Office will send you an e-mail, usually in early January, with an access code that will enable you to fill in the online application form available on the BCI website.
Please note: this code will only be sent to students who have already submitted their mobility contract, duly signed by the mobility coordinator!
01 - Gather all the documents in the application file (application file = documents listed on the BCI website + any additional documents requested by the host university on its own website).
02 - Send 2 copies of the application to Mrs RUIZ ORTEGA (contact below).
Guide
01 - Don't wait until the last minute to put together your application. You'll need time to collect, among other documents, a letter of recommendation from a teacher, copies of your transcripts, etc.!
The same goes for submitting your application to the mobility office... Late applications will not be accepted!
02 - Make sure you regularly consult the BCI website and that of the university to which you are applying.
In particular, check the list of courses open to international exchange students, as well as the list of documents required to apply.
03 - You will be informed directly of the outcome of your application by the host university.
It is therefore imperative that you notify the International Mobility Office of the university's decision, or of any withdrawal on your part!
