Soil, Water, Environment (SEE) course

Human behaviour has a huge impact on the environment, particularly at the level of soils and hydrosystems. This means we need to prevent, treat and control all types of pollution and unsustainable situations on a territorial scale. This work-study and apprenticeship program offers teaching close to the field, with concrete case studies reinforced by experience in a professional context, via the apprenticeship. As environmental policies are increasingly territorial and cross-functional, sociological and economic aspects are also addressed. Our area of study is rural and peri-urban.

Organization

Training takes place over 24 months, from September of year n to September n+2, on a 1-month/one-month university-company intermediary course, followed by a full-time company placement from June year n+1 to September n+1, and from June year n+2 to September year n+2. Entry is by first year only.

The first year of the program is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the environmental sciences. The second year focuses on complex, integrated issues with a social approach.

In Master 1, some courses are taught jointly with students from other SDUEE "Sciences de l'Univers, Environnement, Ecologie" master's courses, including the STEPE "Sciences de la Terre et des Planètes, Environnement" course.
In Master 1 and Master 2, some courses are taught at the Halle Gese in Ivry-sur-Seine.

Admission prerequisites

Students with a degree in Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Physics or Chemistry.

Students with any other degree (Bac +3) and the necessary experience may also be accepted.

Job opportunities

This training program meets emerging needs, particularly in local authorities and design offices where local management of environmental issues inevitably requires an integrated vision in space and time, particularly in terms of the strong interactions between soil, water and ecosystems.

Graduates of the SEE Master's program will be able to apply for positions in local authorities, consultancy firms, service providers and, more generally, any institution dealing with environmental issues.

Environmental engineer specializing in land management (peri-urban to rural) for local authorities
Environmental project managers in local authorities or the private sector (design offices)
